 Options

After Photos4us starts up, the options menu can be reached by holding down the option key. Several parameters can be modified in this menu.

Audio

Photos4us supports 2 audio channels: a soundtrack channel and a narration channel. The sound track channel plays the first (and only the first) file alphabetically listed in the soundtrack folder. The narration channel plays all of the files in the aiff folder in alphabetical order. All audio files must be in AIFF format.

If the Narration button is down, the first file in the aiff folder will be played during the first displayed screen, the second file during the second, etc... Screen transitions are delayed until after the current narration file stops playing. Once all the files have been played, they will restart from the beginning, regardless of what screen is currently being displayed.

If the Soundtrack button is down, the soundtrack file will start playing during the first displayed screen. The soundtrack file will keep playing through all screens until completion. If the Narration button is down, the soundtrack will not be restarted until the first narration file is played again. Otherwise the soundtrack will be restarted as soon as it is done playing.

The No Sound button turns off both audio channels. The top and bottom sliders control the volume of the Soundtrack and Narration channels respectively.

Frames
The Sec./Frame field sets the number of seconds each screen is displayed. If narration is enabled, durations shorter than the length of the current narration will be ignored. To change the value of this field, simply click on it. Arrows will then appear so that you can increment or decrement the value.

If the Sequential button is down, the files in the pict folder will be displayed in the alphabetical order of their file names. Otherwise, they will be displayed in Random order. In both cases, the sequence will repeat after all files have been displayed.

Transitions

There are 10 transition settings that can be set to any one of 52 transitions. The checkbox for a given transition setting determines whether that transition is currently active. The transition field shows the currently selected transition. To change the value of this field, simply click on it. Arrows will then appear so that you can increment or decrement to the next transition on the list. The Dur. field sets the number of quarter seconds that the transition should last. The Size field sets the pixel chunk size of the transition. Smaller chunk sizes are smoother, but can take longer. These fields can both be clicked on to change their values.

If the Sequential button is down, the transitions will be executed in order from the top, repeating when finished. Otherwise, they will be executed in Random order. The Cancel button quits the application without saving changes. The Save button saves any changes and then quits. The Help button displays the following screen:

Clicking on OK returns you to the Options menu.
